I'm moving to http://www.xanga.com/juliesteiner I can't open julieinaforeignland because Blogger is being blocked in China. I can obviously post (since I am right now) but I can't actually see my page so I don't like that. Blogger's been great but Xanga is great, too. See you there.

sourcream

Today I'm making a chicken dish in the crockpot with sourcream. It's actually quite amazing that this is happening. I would never normally have sourcream here because first of all I'd have to make a 30 min trip (not including the prep time to get the bus or taxi) to METRO in HanKou and secondly I'd have to spend a large sum of money for a gigantic tub of sourcream that wouldn't even fit in my little fridge and on top of that Phil doesn't even like sourcream (poor fellow). So how did I get this wonderful gift? The office bought a big tub for a party and they sold the leftovers. So, I'm making something like chicken stroganoff. For those concerned about what Phil will think, he'll like it because it's mixed in the dish. There's a stray dog that's been living on our floor (12th floor apartment) outside of the elevators. She showed up a few days ago. She either walked the 12 flights of stairs or rode the elevator. She's little, blac

it's november

We're busy. I think it's actually the DVD players fault. And also we've had several visitors. Last night we went to The Best Western for supper. Maybe you don't imagine The Best Western as a classy joint but when it's an international chain it is. It was very nice and the buffet was wonderful. It supposedly had an Italian theme but the Italian food I tried was not the best stuff there. The best dish was diced potatoes with onion and bacon. It was a little spicy and just really great. Also the bread pudding was delicious. Not only was the food great but Maddie had a highchair. We always take the stroller or baby backpack with us to restaurants because there are never highchairs. We had our stroller with us but when we arrived the staff had already put a highchair at the table. It was really big and plush. I think Maddie liked being up at the table with everyone and she had just as much fun throwing almost every bit of food we gave her on the floor. She
